Lipo-C is a research compound mixture containing four primary active ingredients: L-Carnitine (C₇H₁₅NO₃), Methionine (C₅H₁₁NO₂S), Inositol (C₆H₁₂O₆), and Choline (C₅H₁₄NO). This blend is frequently utilized in laboratory settings to study metabolic processes, specifically mitochondrial bioenergetics and the mobilization of adipose tissue in murine models.

Scientific investigation into the components of Lipo-C focuses on their individual and collective roles. L-Carnitine is studied for its essential role in transporting long-chain fatty acids across the mitochondrial membrane for beta-oxidation. Methionine, an essential amino acid, acts as a lipotropic agent and a precursor for glutathione, a major antioxidant. Research suggests Methionine may influence hepatic lipid export.

The other components, Inositol and Choline, are investigated for their roles in cell signaling and structural integrity. Choline is a precursor for phosphatidylcholine and acetylcholine, while Inositol is involved in insulin signal transduction. Current studies examine whether the co-administration of these four compounds exerts a synergistic effect on preventing lipid accumulation in the liver (hepatic steatosis) and enhancing metabolic efficiency in test subjects.
